| Picture an intricate machine. One full with gears, each little piece has its place. It’s forever churnin’ and churnin’ and ‘round and ‘round with no problems, no need for oil, no mechanics necessary. Now, got that in your head? Good. Toss a rock in there. Jam it between two gears if you want. Be creative. This is a basic analogy describing the game that is Okage. A story world machine powered by Classification (an assignment system that controls a person’s personality) that falls apart due to a boy who slipped through the cracks. Linda, as you might have guessed (did the name give you a hint?), is not that boy. In fact, Linda was tightly snug in her little Classification as ‘Singing Girl’ and eventually ‘Teen Idol Evil King.’ A situation arises and she deals with it in the same fashion she deals with everything else: with a smile on her face and a song on her lips. Now, don’t get me wrong. Her joy doesn’t stem from some sort of inner peace or untold secret to life. If they say ‘ignorance is bliss,’ then Linda is on a constant high. Unfortunately, life isn’t all giggles and strawberries. Linda is classified as an ‘Evil King’ for a reason. Being from the ‘demondom’ she has a unique sense of aesthetics (finding horrifying demons to be absolutely adorable) and creates solutions to problems that aren’t always seen as kosher. Killing something that’s blocking your path? Hey, why not. People not like your music? I hear brainwashing can fix that little issue right up. Not surprisingly, the best way one might sum up Linda is using her Classification: ‘Teen Idol’ and ‘Evil King.’ |
